Difference Between Windows 2003 Server Winows 2000 Server?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Start with the basics - Windows 2000 is NT 5.0 and 2003 is NT 5.2 (XP is 5.1). So the start of the answer is not much.

2003 offers better plug & play and a wider range of supported hardware. 2003 improves quite a bit on the business uses first offered in Windows 2000 such as improved AD replication, improved DFS and DFS replication, IIS 6 and the introduction of application pools, and in general more security features and functions. There are hundreds more group policies and many more objects that can be supported in AD. Further, there were improvements to terminal services and remote desktop.

This is by no means an inclusive list, but identifies some of the high points.
