Devils Tower basically is a monolith situated near Hulett and Sundance in eastern Wyoming. It is positioned on top of Belle Fourche River. It builds up to an elevation of 1267 feet above the neighbouring ground. The peak is said to be around 5112 feet above the sea level.

It is also a part of the first ever United States National Monument, which was recognized on September 24, 1906 by then President Theodore Roosevelt. A total area of 5.45 square kilometres is built-in the monuments boundaries. Lately out of the 400,000 people visiting the monument one per cent manage to climb the Tower. The monolith was filmed extensively for the 1977 movie Close Encounters of the third Kind.
