I have never heard of dog holding his "potty" as a sign of dominance. A lot of puppies will secretly go to the bathroom when you are not looking and eat it and therefore you think he isn't having any bowl movements. If it has been more than a couple days you probably should take him in for a checkup to make sure it is not a health problem. It is not normal behavior if this is occurring.
