Can You Define The Name Africa?

There are a number of theories regarding the meaning and the origin of Africa. Historically Afri refers to the name of people who lived in North Africa. It is also said that the continent took its name from the previous name of Tunisia, which was Ifriqiya. According to Jewish historians the name is derived from Epher who was the grandson of Abraham. Its origin is also traced back to the Latin word Aprica which means sunny, or the Greek word Aphrike which means without cold.
