w = kg of walnuts present in mixed bag of cashews
and walnuts
c + w = 1 kg >>> equation1
5.20c + 4.20w = 4.50 >>> equation 2
equation1>>> c = 1 - w
Substitute in eq. 2:
5.20(1 - w) + 4.20w = 4.50
5.20 - 5.20w + 4.20w = 4.50
-1.00w = 4.50 - 5.20
w = -0.7/-1.0
w = 0.7 kg walnuts
c = 1 - 0.7 = 0.3 kg cashews
hence,
w = 0.7 kg walnuts
c = 0.3 kg cashews
