I Am Having Irregular Periods. Can You Tell Me What That Could Mean?

I have not had a regular menstrual cycle in over 3 months. This month I have been spotting on and off. I think it is the start of my period, but it only last for 10 minutes. I have never been pregnant. Can you please tell me what this could be?

The cycle irregularities can be divided in two groups. One is bleeding problems and other is timing problems. In bleeding problems, bleeding can be spotting, heavy, scanty, profuse and prolong. In timing problems, periods are not on time, the cycle length can be more than 32 days and less than 22 days and both are not normal. A third group can be mixture of both these.
These cycle irregularities are usually due to hormonal imbalance. So, you should get investigations about your hormones and get supplemental therapy.
