Can Anyone Offer Some (dog Or Human) Training Advice?

Navarre, my new dog is learning the way things work in my home. He's adjusting quite well, but I am having some furniture issues. He seems to think that my coffee table is a spring board onto my couch. We play at night and every night he knocks over my candles and books jumping around. Huskies are great jumpers, I knew this, but figured I had to worry about fences not tables. I need a constructive method, everything else, the obedience and potty training has worked out... Just this one thing bugs the heck out of me. Help!

I am suggesting the same thing, but when you put the coffee table back, use a strong and sturdy voice when you tell him no. They often listen to the tone of your voice, and that would be a good indicator to him to know that he is doing something that you don't agree with, or that you don't want him to do this. Hope this helps, good luck.

Thank you Tiigersmom, I have tried being stern, I have even tried catching him and submitting him during the act. Going to have to be more extreme I guess.

Take the coffee table away for awhile. I know that your room will look better with it in it, but just for a week. See if when you put the table back if he still thinks he needs it for a spring board. You picked the type of dog that has a lot of energy. Is he getting enough exercise outside? I'm sure he knows the meaning of no if he is potty trained and congrats on getting that far with him. That is the hardest and most rewarding part of owning a dog. He will make a great pet for years to come. You are doing a great job.

I wake up early and take him on a walk every morning, we sit and have coffee walk home and then he goes to work with me where he plays with my daughter all day. We walk to the park after work and then play for and hour or two then go home eat dinner, after he eats and I put my daughter to be we go for a short walk (to go potty) to the end of the street. He gets TONS of exercise. He just likes his evening play time too. Good suggestion though, I will try it.

If he's a pup, you're fighting an uphill battle... The problem is, That when he gets to playing he gets all excited and forgets the, in his view, arbitrary "rules".  You have to find a way of making a seemingly natural negative association in his mind.... A "when I jump on this table, this happens, and I don't like that happening so I won't jump on this table".. Which is of course easier said than done.  As attractive as it will be.. Try covering it in tin foil for a few days... Some dogs hate the feel and sound, or find something else to put on it that will negatively affect him when he jumps on it... Maybe marbles, or something like that that will not feel good on the paws and give him a start when they scatter as well... It can be anything.. Just needs to be something that will make him "think" at a basic reactive level.  Once he makes the association, you should be able to take it away and still have the imprinted association stay.
Even a loud high pitched "yelp" from you, as soon as he hits the table might do it... But timing and consistency are everything, so it tends to work better with a built in physical response... Good luck... Pups are a handful!

He's actually not a puppy, I just call him a puppy because he's cute... being female being cute translates to being a baby... sorry. I tried the stern (and loud) no tried the bark and yepl thing, I am going to try removing the table or maybe the tin foil thing first... thanks, awesome answers you guys!

How about a spray water bottle...That's what we use at Petsmart when we are trying to get dogs adopted..I don't work there just volunteer. It has worked with my dogs...stopped the barking...just a firm no and a spay from the bottle at the same time.
      Good Luck!

Brilliant! I didn't think of that. I used it back when I had a cat. Navarre hates baths so I bet he'd hate a squirt bottle just as much, and it will probably startle the heck out of him! (and no moving furniture... which is always a plus.)
