How Is Eating Disorder Treated?

    Eating disorder is a syndrome in which a person eats in a way which disturbs their physical health. Overeating is the most common and obvious such disorder, and was in the past often attributed to a lack of self-control. The eating disorders lead to mental disorders affecting person's mental health. The eating disorders are anorexia nervosa, binge eating disorder, eating disorder not otherwise specified, bulimia nervosa, eaperphagia, rumination and pica.

    Anorexia takes place due to self inflected starvation, purging, vomiting, excessive exercise, diet pills and is treated through psychotherapy, which is the effective form in the treatment of anorexia and helps in the restoring weight.  Binge eating disorder is a psychiatric disorder and arises out of compulsive eating. Cognitive-behavioral therapy is what helps in curing binge eating disorder.   Bulimia nervosa is a psychological condition causing vomiting due to laxatives, enemas, diuretics or excessive exercise or fasting and is treated by effectively using psychotherapy or cognitive behavioral therapy.  Polyphagia also implies consumption of heavy food.
