    CAD - Computer aided design (or, sometimes, drafting) - Companies utilize CAD to design everything from toasters to hi-rise buildings.

    CAM - Computer aided Manufacturing - Companies using CAM to guide the manufacturing process. It could be instructing machines as to how cut the metal for the toaster designed in CAD or controlling the robot that picks the completed part from the cutting machine.

    CIM - Common Information Model - CIM provides companies and cooperating vendors a common method of defining management information as it pertains to systems, networks, applications and services. It tries to ensure that all players are playing from the same playbook.
