Where Did The Name London Come From?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The Romans invaded in 43AD and sailed up the river Thames, only to find inhospitable marshland either side. They decided a bridge would be useful, and after constructing one it became very popular as a central hub from which to send troops - so a settlement was constructed on the North side of the bridge called Londinium.

    The rest is history :)
