Have you ever heard the saying, If you can ask that question, then reason stands that you aren't. Consider going to a psychiatrist. It does not mean that you are going mad. Psychiatry has changed since the stone ages. There are great advances in psychiatric medicines that can really help you, and if you are honest with them, then they can better diagnose what it is that you are trying to deal with. Good luck, and have a nice day, okay.

Read David Burn's books on cognitive behaviour therapy and see if this describes your behaviour. At the same time seek psychiatric help. His books are very easy to read and have lots of examples of how negative thinking can cause us problems. A professional psychiatrist trained in cognitive behaviour therapy can help a lot.
