The best way to be sure of that is to test your laptops wireless performance with some other wifi network other than at your place

Ask over at Craigslist Computer Forum for a quicker answer. Tell the geeks there the name or make of laptop "Dell" or whatever and what windows you are running XP or Vista. This is called troubleshooting, so they will be asking you questions. I've never seen these geeks not solve a PC problem.
