How Often Do You Need To Feed Dogs?
Answers
Many factors will determine how often you need to feed your dog including the sex of the dog; the age; the activity level; stress levels; medical history; and other dietary factors. It would be best to check with your local veterinarian who can advise you after a thorough examination of your pet.
In general, on average puppies should be fed about three times a day till they are somewhere between 5 and 6 months old. You can then cut back to feeding them twice a day. However, keep in mind that the dog's meals should now be larger such that he gets about the same amount per day.
You can even check the back of the dog food packet for guidelines on the amount that you should be feeding your dog. Just keep in mind that these are only guidelines and the actual quantity will depend on the individual pet.

Puppies already weaned: 3 times daily, amounts according to size/weight.
6mos- 1yr- 2 times daily amounts according to size/weight.
1 year and throughout life: once daily
Older dogs may eat a little less as metabolism slows down, ages 8 year on. Try a Senior dog food for enough nutrition, need less protein
Active (and younger) dogs need a high protein diet, read labels on dry foods.
