The new Windows media Player has very enhanced and extensive digital Music libraries. In these libraries there are metadata which is the information describing a particular track that is being played. The metadata tools in the new version of the Media Player are completely automated and very quick and they always keep running in the background. This enables the availability of the information related to a track that is the artist, album etc. In addition, the Media Player 11 also has Audio Waveform Matching. This identifies the album that is being played and also the exact information related to the album and the track.

It will only show the information of what you're playing if you are connected to the internet. Otherwise, it will just show a generic symbol and say the track number.
