Thirteen Colonies is a term that refers to the first every union of colonies in America formed originally in order to rebel against the mother country England. Individually they were formed over a period of nearly a hundred and twenty five years. Virginia was formed way back in 1607 while Georgia was formed in 1732. They then decided in 1775 to come together and rebel against the crown. At the same time the thirteen decided to form a national government as per the Second Continental Congress. The thirteen colonies finally declared their independence on the 4th of July 1776 and called the new nation the United States of America. Seven other colonies of the British in North America remained loyal and did not join the rebellion.
The thirteen colonies included Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Maryland, Delaware, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Maryland.
