If your dvd player has a dvi out and your monitor has a dvi in thna you can use it with a dvi cable, if not, see what kind of output if avaliable on your dvd player and check at the market if a convertor is avaliable to link it to your monitor in most cases it is possible to find a cable at reasonable prices.

Thanks PantherX. I just checked my DVD player and the monitor. The portable DVD has the usual cable for DVD's (RCA) and my monitor has the blue cable (analog)? will this work if I get a, RCA to VGA converter? Has this been tried? Thanks again.
