Biodegradable means, it can be naturally broken down in the environment over time. The process of rotting, not a bad thing, and returning to its natural form and reincorporating itself into environment. Plastic, though some call them biodegradable, may be able to break down in sunlight and become a type of mulch where plants can grow around them, but they are never totally broken down, as they are manmade product, same as bleach, can't be broken down, but some can be absorbed but never return to its original chemical structure due to man's tampering. All foodstuff, including animal, will biodegrade. That is why a lot of people now are opting for non-embalmed burials. The emblaming fluid, a preservative found in many foods, does not biodegrate and preserves the body. This is no longer required, as usually, people have a chance to give our final farewells due to faster transport etc. Used to be, embalming used in civil war so that the body was preserved during shipping back to family. Now, no longer required, they still do, as funeral homes get lots of money for it, make sure you make provisions for a green burial
