Is Jedi Really A Religion?

The Jedi phenomenon lead to a myriad of reactions since its very conception. From being cited as ridiculously absurd to a complete acceptance by many the Jedi wave swung pretty much in both directions. What really happed was in the year 2001 a few e-mails were circulated stating that if approximately eight thousand people were to sign a petition then the Jedi would officially be pronounced an official religion by the respective government! Further more people were asked to claim they were Jedi's.


There are a few theories circulating on why such a movement really started. One states that this was just a joke played on for the fun of it. While another states that this was a means to gaining popularity. While yet others believe this was a campaign launched to protest the inquiry of the government in the religious background of people. Obviously this is of a personal nature to most of us.
