Can A Landlord Keep A Tenant Security Deposit Do To Unpaid Rent In IL Also Can He Post An Eviction Notice On Your Door And Not Inform You?
My landlord has repeatedly let the super walk in to my apartment without reason so i didn't feel comfortable and have been trying to call the landlord and he denies it. He says the super doesnt work for him but he has keys to all the apartments. He wont answer my calls and hes trying to get me to break my lease i need help

Yes, a landlord can keep your security deposit against non payment of rent. The eviction notice should be properly signed by you for receiving. You still then have chance to appeal in the court and give your explanation for non-payment. But you must know eviction law of your state to know about your rights.

Actually as the previous poster stated, yes the landlord can keep it for back rent (it is generally what the security deposit is for), and also all a landlord is required to do it post the eviction notice on the property in plain sight (i.e. The front door). It is not a legal summons to appear, therefore a signature from the tenant is not required.
