    Low potassium diets contain less than
    2000 mg of potassium per day.
    Avoid salt substitutes
    Use only seasonings that do not contain potassium
    Limit fruits and vegetables to 4 servings (1/2 cup each) a day
    Limit milk products to 1/2 cup a day total.

    Avoid the following: Artichokes Butter beans, Dried peas, beans, lentils, Potatoes, French fries, chips, Sweet potatoes, Swiss chard, Tomato paste, Winter squash Yams
    Chocolate candy and beverages, Molasses, Nuts
    Apricots, Avocado, Cantaloupe, Honeydew Melon, Nectarines, Plantain, Tangelos and Bananas

    Potatoes may be consumed if they are cut up and soaked under water for 4 hours before cooking.

    Do not try to remove potassium from the diet altogether.  It is a crucial substance that our body does need in moderation.
