Where Is The Palace Theatre In Manchester?

    The Palace Theatre is one of the key theatres in Manchester, England. Its sister concern theatre called Manchester Opera House on Quay Street is also managed by the same company which manages The Palace theatre and it is called, Live Nation.

    The initial capacity of the theatre was 3,675 but was gradually reduced to 1,998. The theatre is till date known by its earlier name 'The grand Old Lady of Oxford Street', and it was inaugurated on 18th May, 1891. The total cost to build the theatre was around 40,500 pounds.

    The first show which went on floor in the Manchester Theatre was Cleopatra and was opened to capacity crowd. The theatre gained prominence in the 20th century with artists like Danny Kaye, Gracie Fields, Charles Loughton Judy Garland etc making appearances at the theatre.
