Why Does The Moon Change Shape?

The moon itself does not change shape.  What changes is how much of it is visible to the earth, depending upon it's position relative to the earth and to the sun.

The moon actually does not have light. It is a silvery kind of heavenly body that rotates around the earth. Just like a piece of white paper, if there is light it will shine but if it is murky it wiil be dark just like everything else around. Then how does this has got to do with the changing of its shape from time to time?

As most of us know, the moon rotates around the earth and at almost every instance light is reflected from the sun to the moon then towards the earth. But not all of the surface of the moon is hit by sunlight. Just in the same way as the earth, half of it is daytime and the other half is nightime. It is due to this shadow on the surface of the moon that at some different stages in its rotation around the earth it will appear in different shapes and sizes. These are called "The Phases of the Moon".

Not aware that it has, at least not in human history. And we cant know for sure even how it came to be. One theory is it came out of the Earth in the billion year old solar system creation times (not creation, but universe evolution).

It doesn't its just the sun reflecting off it.
