What Is Thai Boxing?

    Thai boxing is commonly known as Muay Thai. It is a martial art. It is widely practiced in Southeast Asia. Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar and Cambodia all practice this martial art with some minor differences. While Thai boxing is called Tomoi in Malaysia, it is referred to as Lethwei in Myanmar and Pradal Serey in Cambodia. It is called the Art of eight Limbs in Thailand and id the Thai national sport.

    The history of this martial art is entrenched in the local Thai tradition. Its traditional style is id quite different from the Thai boxing in practice today. Nowadays it is practiced in an enclosure or ring and is a fight between two boxers both wearing boxing gloves. It mainly consists of punches and kicks. An expert boxer is able to strike at eight contact points.
