The ideal weight chart tells me that I am overweight .I have to reduce 20 pounds to be on the safest side.

    There is no such thing as a "best diet". The best way to lose weight is by changing your eating and excercise habits. If you want to lose weight and keep your weight low after that, try this:

    Reduce your daily intake of sugar and fat to a minimum
    Increase the level of vegetables in your diet
    Make sure you exercise thrice a week for 30 minutes whereby your heartbeat should be around 130bpm (not too much lower but also not too much higher)

      In dieting one should look that what is the amount of calories you take in per day and out of them how much you burn. To avoid calories try to stay away from sugars and food like bread, pasta, rice that will break down in sugar and accumulate in body in form of fats. Eat what ever you are eating but reduce the quantity. Like if you eat a full sandwich then now eat half sandwich. Include vegetable and fruit in your diet that helps a lot as it is said "An apple a day keeps the doctor away".

      If you drink a lot then stay way from carbonated and hard drinks. They have a lot of calories. Try to have fresh fruit drinks they are far much better. In fresh juices lime is the best.Lots of intake of water is very good. Try to drink slightly warm water because it will help in increasing your metabolism rate by doing so u feel as if your stomach is full and will eat less.

      Try to exercise daily; it helps in burning your fat. Keep check on your diet and on your exercise both goes side by side. Be careful not to waste your effort by eating more. Some people see little effect just because they eat what they burn during exercise. For exercise try to join gyms if not then try to do30 to 40 minutes brisk walk. Don't stick yourself with 3 meals a day. Have 5 meals a day but quantity and calories should be less.

      All you have to do is fill your plate like you usually do and then put back half.
      And the best exercise is the one where your elbows are bent, just push your arms straight.

        I agree with the above replier, but I have found that if you lower your calories to a healthy level, say 1800 calories, and keep changing or rotating what you eat it shocks your system. Let's say you eat 2000 calories one day and do it the next day, then every 2 days eat 1800 calories, and keep going between the two it keeps your system on it's toes.Replace regular pasta with whole grain and limit pasta to once a week. Never ever deprive your body of foods that you crave it's not always what you it's how much you eat or what kind you eat. I have went from 400 lbs to 218 by doing this. The last 70 lbs are tough because my body is not getting shocked, and I need to try a new tactic, but that should work for a good 100 lbs. and it's always wise to go to a dietician to see what types of foods are good or best for YOUR body type. No one can really say what is right or wrong for a diet, it's what works for YOU and your body type, and I wish you luck.

        EAT A GOOD BREAKFAST AND NOTHING WITH FAT AFTER 7:00 PM.
        IF YOU GO OUT FOR A MEAL. DO NOT SAY,"I AM ON A DIET" JUST EAT AND HAVE FUN.

        The best way to lose weight is not a diet per se, but it is an eating lifestyle called "Somersizing."  You can eat as much food as you want, so long as you follow certain guidelines on how to combine different types of food and eliminating certain foods from your diet.  You can find complete details by ordering the book (used is cheaper) by Suzanne Somers.  I myself lost 100lbs in one year.

        An age-old question: How to lose weight.  If the medical community truly knew the answer, we wouldn't have such a glut of books & opinions on the market.  In fact, losing weight isn't the issue:  How to keep the weight you've lost off - permanently - is the crux of the problem.  The metabolism is a tricky thing and from I can gather, it takes at least 2 years at a steady weight to keep in check.  So if you lose a lot of weight quickly and not keep yourself on the same regimen, you'll see that weight come back fast - plus more!  

        Trick your body into losing weight and keeping it off by losing slowly.  You want this weight off for the long-haul! Burn off more than you put into your system.  It's simple math.  I have to say that I've never seen slim people eating "diet" foods and have talked at length with personal friends who've never had weight issues.  They're active people who enjoy hiking, tennis, running, etc. - no gym.  They eat whatever they want but know when to push away from the table.  Common sense should rule and I think you already know the answer to your question.  Good luck!

          I have been on all the diets; the best so far for me has been weight watchers. It is not a diet, but a new way of eating healthier. It allows you to have anything, but you have to look at the calories, and the calories turn into points. You have to write down everything you eat, and this makes you more aware of what you are eating. You could try just writing down your foods and see what you are in taking calorie wise, and watch your sodium and sugars.

          The best way to lose weight is to change your eating habits and exercise.  I have found a diet pill that help curb my appetite.  The pill is called the gastric bypass pill.  You can go to Zetacap.com and read about it.  It makes you feel full and you don't want to eat.  At first you feel so full you are uncomfortable.  I had to take one capsule twice a day. It depends on how much it take to fill your stomach.

          Not everyone's body reacts the same/is the same, but what you could also try is eating more often but small portions of food. Try eating early in the morning (when you get up), something tiny like an apple( jst an example)to get your metabolism going. Then say 3 hours later and again 3 hours after that, you might be able to keep your metabolism up during the day, burning calories & using energy to process the small amounts of food.

          Just an idea, but i know it seems to work for me.
          Dnt go on fad diets - they sometimes have long term effects. Stabilise your way of eating.

          Also take walks,moderate exercise (dnt strain yourself)

          Yes you will get hungry more often, but drink alot of fluids ( keep your body hidrated - helps it to function better and your body to work faster). Hope it helps.

            Every diet is different and will effect each individual in a different way. The best things I have seen is to reduce the portions or even eating more but much smaller amounts through the day. 6 small meals are easier to burn off than 3 larger ones. I just wish I could practice what I preach.

            Also, adding exercise is very important and will help you loose even more. If you don't exercise at all, you will find that the first few weeks you will gain weight but this is a good thing as this is your body turning fat into muscle and in turn, the muscle will be able to burn more fat as you continue to exercise. Many people get discouraged at this either because they are gaining weight or because they don't want to be all muscular like those body builders. What they loose site of is that by doing some exercise, they will not bulk up like body builders and muscle being more dense than fat, they are actually trimming down. Then when you do begin to loose, you have much more energy, better circulation and be in much better health overall.

              If you want to reduce weight then you have to take so much tension. Think more and more,do lot of work and don't take tea and do walk daily.Daily pull some weight and the fear of death will definitely reduce your weight.

              Push back from the table. Don't have those second helpings. Use the smaller plate instead of the large one. You can eat what you want just in smaller portions. Train yourself that you don't need all that food all day long. When you want a snack between meals, find something else to do, take a walk, vacuum the floor, treat yourself to a bubble bath anything but eat. Your next meal will taste so much more refreshing and you will not feel stuffed, but will be full and feel better about yourself. Set your goal for yourself and stick to it. Look in the mirror and love yourself enough to eat less at each meal, eat less more often.

              Best diet is veggies, fruit, and chicken + fish. All these things are pretty good and you can raise them all yourself so you know they are not contaminated with hormones. Raise your own garden, fish farm pond, and chicken farm.... You will have the best health in the country side.

                If you're looking for a diet, Weight Watchers is the best....BUT the best way to lose weight and remain healthy is to simply begin to use better judgement with choosing your food.  Aim for eating five vegetables a day and if you fall short some days that's okay.  Eat lean protein such as baked, broiled or grilled chicken and fish and cut down on desserts or only indulge once a week.  Watch portion size too.  Many of us eat nutritious food but eat two or more servings instead of one.  Listen to your stomach and stop eating when you are satisfied, not completely full.  Get up and move! Simply walking for 30 minutes MOST, not all, days of the week will get your blood circulating and provide your heart with much needed exercise.  Sorry to get on the bandwagon here, but most of these suggestions are common sense and most of us still don't practice them.  :)

                I advise if user losing weight, the best diet would be eating fruits and vegetables since these are poor source of fat and carbohydrates. Avoid eating protein and fat riched foods since these will destroy your build.

                Exercise also helps in maintaining a good body posture and shape; asides from burning out excess fats inside our body, it also helps in making our body healthier and livelier^^
