How To Share Printer With Wireless Laptop?

Can't get my printer to work from my laptop without USB cable. I think the problem is with the desktop and the laptop not being on the same network ?? Desktop shows broadband and laptop shows local lan connection. Have Googled it extensively without being able to resolve it. Appreciate some help here, but please keep it simple, as I'm not too PC savvy.

First you have to check that your desktop has wireless card as well to connect it to your laptop wirelessly. Then make a wireless connect between the two by using the network setup wizard in "network connections".After both are connected you will have the option to share the desktop printer with laptop so select that in network connections.
