Like electric shavers. That's what some people call them anyway. With the rising prices of oil and increasing awareness related to air pollution cars are progressively moving away from gasoline for their fuel requirement. The short term alternative is proving to be the use of ethanol as a complimentary fuel source to gasoline. Engines are being modified to accommodate fuel mixtures with higher proportion of ethanol mixes.
In the medium to long term however the next technologies include hybrid cars which use hydrogen fuel cells and electric power as sources for powering vehicles. The electric cars could actually come equipped with solar panels which would power the vehicle. The one distinguishing feature of these vehicles is that they will not be noisy like conventional vehicles as no explosions will be taking place in the cylinder blocks within the engine of the vehicle.
