DSL stands for Digital Subscription Line. It is when the high frequency part of a normal analog phone line is used to send digital data. There are two forms of DSL. ADSL and SDSL. The A is Asynchronous and the S is Synchronous. Asynchronous is where the Download and upload speeds are different, Synchronous is where they are the same.
