The Apocryphal Books, as they are differentiated from Protestant canon, are dispersed throughout the Old Testament. In order of their appearance: Tobit, Judith, I Maccabees, II Maccabees, Wisdom, Sirach, and Baruch. They are generally referred to as having some historical value by some Protestants but not considered to be Divinely inspired.

To add to the above, the Jews divided their scriptures into the law (Torah), the prophets, and the writings (referred to as Scriptures in the New Testament). They always attributed a lesser degree of inspiration to the writings than they did the law and the prophets. There was some disagreement amongst various Jewish groups as to which of the writings were sufficiently inspired to be included in amongst the "canonical" books (that is those that were completely divinely inspired and hence applicable for guidance and teaching for all time).
In AD 120 the chief Jewish rabbis held a conference at a place called Jamnia. At this conference they decided once and for all which books from the writings (there was no disagreement about the law and the prophets) would be included in the Jewish canon and which left out. The ones left out became the Old Testament apocrypha. This does not mean that the apocryphal books were regarded as uninspired or spurious, merely that they did not exhibit the same degree of divine inspiration as the ones included in the canon.
The christian church followed the decision of the Council of Jamnia on deciding which books were to be included in the canon and which were to be left in the apocrypha.
