I really cannot afford to take him to a vet. Yet, if there is a serious problem going on, I would find a way. I love my pet very much.

Your dog might be suffering from teeth problem, depression, constipation, or seasonal temperature. In order to make it healthy again change its food. Provide it fresh food daily. May be your dog is upset because of some new pet in your home or somebody in your home is giving it tasty treats which are causing its loss of appetite. Examine its body thoroughly to see if there is any wound or infection, which is bothering it. If change in food does not help it out then you have to visit a vet.
