How Do I Solve 5x2+4x=1?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

    Multiply 5 x 2  = 10 + 4x = 1
    Subtract 10 from both sides  = 4x = 1 - 10
    4x = -9
    Divide by 4 on both sides

    x = -9/4
    x = -2 1/4

      First, you multiply out 5x2 which equals 10. (10+4x = 1) Than you subtract the 10 to the other side of the equation under the one. So now you're equation looks like this: 4x = 9. Once you get that you divide 9 by 4 leaving x by itself. Which you get x = 9/4 or 2.25.
