How Do I Get My Insurance Company To Switch My Claim Status From Collision To Comprehensive?

My car was struck by an object which presumably flew off the back of a truck. It was roughly the size and shape of a pallet but I can't be entirely certain since it was night time when the accident occured. The point of impact on my car was the front bumper, which the object obliterated - but to have done that, the object had to be airborne. Should this make a difference in how my insurance company treats my claim in terms of Collision versus Comprehensive?

Call your agent and tell them you want to drop your liability coverage and just keep comprehensive.  Be careful, though, before your do this.  If you're even in an accident, the other guy will get his car fixed but NOT yours.  You will have to pay for any repairs on  your car and if it totalled, you'll get -0-.  Good luck.

I don't think your answer really helps me here. There was no other vehicle involved - it was just my car getting struck by a foreign object which I thought was tantamount to a "deer jumping out of the woods" situation as far as my claim status was concerned. By that reasoning I also thought it would be handled as a Comprehensive claim instead of a Collision claim. My insurer doesn't seem to agree and I'd like to know if there's any way that I can make them see my side of it.
