Madagascar officially known as the Republic of Madagascar basically is a island nation based in the Indian Ocean, positioned towards the south-eastern coast of Africa.

Its chief island also known as Madagascar, is the fourth biggest island in the world, it also the base of five percent of the entire world's plant and animal species. The initial settler in Madagascar were said to come from Asia, rather than the thought of Africa, thus their culture has the influence of both Asia as well as Africa. The documented history of Madagascar was started around the 7th century, when the Arabs made trading posts beside the northwest coast.

The total area of this region is estimated at 587,041 square kilometres and the total population of this region is said to be 18,606,000, with an average density of 32 per square kilometre.
