I think reading books helps anyone whit new ideas and sharpens the mind, but there are lots of ways to get better concepts and a clearer picture of whats happening.

Mugging up : Which we do while exams by reading book
Concept : Just a basic fair idea clears ur concept
Information : Which we could get by reading news paper, magazines, news channel. Etc.
So i believe reading more and more books will give you more and more information, knowledge etc which would be helpful for you to clear your concept. However Reading more books may or may not clear your concept, but it is sure that its going to be more helpful to clear your concept, when you come across such material again in some other book.
