How Do I Stop My Hamster From Biting Everyone??
Hi, I have a hamster and he bites hard on every one and everything. When we got him at the store he was fine but since we brought him home he doesn't stop. We left him alone for two months and he still bites, how do we teach him how to stop without getting bitten too hard ourselves?

Some hamsters are just more nervous than others and don't trust you. You should not give up on her. Give her a treat of your palm so that she can feel comfortable. For more details, click

Usually when a hamster or any rodent bites you its because they think you are trying to feed it a treat. Do not feed them treats by hand always put them in their bowls. I don't know if this can stop your hamster from biting but if you get another one in the future then don't feed it treats from your hand.

well if it were a puppy i would say bite them back but in your case a hamster is like zuhail says "nervous" gain trust and try not to get discouraged...animals sense your nervousness also...or a friend may be nervous and attempt to hold him...they sense this and have a natural reaction. Keep calm and collective while engaging with any animal large or small because they sense how you feel as well.
Try giving a chew of some kind while handling your hamster...it could detour the biting...also is it alone or does it have a mate? Sometimes a natural reaction to gain and keep what is his will be a factor as well as protection from attacks. If so hold the two together see what happens.
