What Did The Southerners Call The 12 Years After The Civil War? What Did President Lincoln Call It?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

President Lincoln didn't call it anything; he was dead.  If he had his way, the Reconstruction Era would have been simpler and easier.  Lincoln believed in forgiveness, as illustrated by the Bible.  He believed that Southerns should have been completely forgiven and the rebellion forgotten with no kind of reparations or penalties.
