Islam as I perceive is a complete religion where there is room and provisions for all specially Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) stressed on giving women the desired status at times when there was no concept what so ever of women rights etc.
Women in Islam are considered equal in almost every aspect of life to men.
A women in any relation to men have been given priority.
If a woman is mother she has the rights over her children and she is supposed to be taken care of and provided every single need of her, same is the case if she is sister, daughter or wife.
In last speech of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) he stressed again and again rights of women to Muslim followers and said "your wives have right over you and you have right over your wives".
At a time when women were treated as mere slaves or commodities.
Islam was the first to give women rights which these days different countries claim to be doing and boosting such which was decided by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) hundreds of years ago.
In all this was just a very small intro but if you really are interested to detailed status of women in Islam you better send me your email ID I will send you very authentic and detailed literature about this topic.
Hope my comments arouse your interest. Do let me know so I could send you the material.

A woman has an honorable status in Islam. Islam is the only religion which is giving dignity and honor to woman. We think that Islam is bounding woman but it is not true. It is totally untrue. Albeit, Islam is giving her some limits but these are for the benefits of her, she needs to realize that Islam is giving her full-fledged freedom with in her live limits. Her very limits are Pardah and she should follow it. It will give her secure feeling. Her security is the main matter all in all. This security is the thing that is not available in other religions round the globe. In other religions, woman's status is below standard. They do not consider her a living being. They think that it is something for time pass and enjoyment. They just make fun of her and do not give her equal and right share in any thing. It is Islam which is giving her share in wealth as well. It is giving her equal share in honor as well.
