The best way is to show those people videos and pictures of happy family. Share with them, in pictorial form, the pleasures and happiness that he will have once free from that horrible addiction. Reward for an effort is essential thing to motivate and that applies to Drug Addicts too. Just that in case of Drug Addicts, the reward needs to be in different sense.
Show and tell the patient the real life examples when drug addicts recovered and got their own family, home etc. Tell them how happily they can live and earn respect and friends in society. Tell them of joys of normal life and how they can enjoy different activities.
Engage them in some kind of activity that does not makes them think of drug and makes them engage in till they get tired and want to sleep normally. Some good comedy shows might also help for sometime but no emotional dramas, not even single drama scene.
