What Do Spies Do In The American Revolution?

What do the American spies do

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

They did the same kinds of things a modern spy might do, but on a less sophisticated scale.  Nathan Hale was considered the first American spy.  He was sent behind enemy lines to gather intelligence on British troop movements  Benedict Arnold provided information to the British, and participated in a plot to surrender to the British.  Paul Revere and Ethan Allen were also branded as spies for the Americans and the British respectively.

Well most spies went behind enemy lines and pretended to be part of the other side. They would take notes on things like weaponry, numbers of troops, where they were moving to... Things like that.
