It varies according to the country you are living in. However, in UK there are 3 different ways to become a midwife. First of all you can do a diploma course in midwifery. For this you would need to get 5 or more GCSEs with a grade C or above. The key subjects should be Maths, Science and English. Or you can apply for a vocational GCSEs/GNVQs, NVQs, BTEC National Diploma or Access courses when you are 18 years of age. Then you can also get a degree course. For this you would need to do A Levels or AVCEs. You would also need to take at least one science subject or any other health related subject. The grades must be C grade or above.

I’ve recently taken my GCSEs & am looking to go on to study Alevels @ college.I was just wondering if you could advise me in which Alevels are appropriate to take so I would be able to study midwifery at university in the future?I’ve been told that biology & health & social care are the courses I should be looking to go into, but health and social care is seen as it’s own individual subject not an Alevel so I would just be taking that without taking. Could you please advise me in which qualifica

At least 5 gcse's a-c . Need important grades in maths, english and science and at least do science (biology) to learn more about the human body or something to do with health its not easy to be an midwife as someones else's life is in your hands so you must be caring and feel strongly about helping women and they're children as you do not just deliver the baby you look after it afterwards as well but try your best and when you get course work make sure you complete it to the best of your ability.
