This Question is Answered

We Are Moving Our Office And Setting Up A T-1 Line. The Line Is Already Installed, Prior To Our Renting The New Space, And I Have Already Contacted AT&T Regarding The Activation Of The Service. We Currently Have DSL, With A Wireless Router. About Ten Of Our Machines Are On The Wireless Network, And The Rest Of Use Ethernet. What Do I Need To Do To Make Sure The Network Is Setup At The New Location? What New Equipment Will I Need And How Do I Configure It? Finally, Do I Really Need To Just Hire A Consultant To Come In, Look At The New Building, And Instruct Me From There?

I'm going to assume that you're not adding any new equipment but if you are (new printers, etc) that your router or switch can accommodate the growth, that you have the lines pulled and jacks installed in the areas where you're going to be hard wiring equipment, and that you have the correct account information to plug into the router so as to connect to your ISP. (Make sure you purchased a static IP for your network) AT&T should have a tech group that can help you set up your router and test your connection. If you currently have a static IP from another ISP, make sure to change all old numbers off the router, which the tech people will help you with. (internal static IP's won't be affected, so you don't need to change the IP's on any equipment that you've set up with a static number.)

If this is all true, it will be just a matter of physically moving your equipment into place, power up the router, plug in everything, start up the server, make sure it connects, and all should go well.
