How Do You Set Up A Safe Home Network?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Once a home network is set up certain measures can be taken to provide added security. There are different types of firewalls that can be obtained from third parties. These firewalls typically act as a barrier between your machine and the internet at large. Settings in these firewalls can be adjusted sufficiently to provide the required security. Some of the names of these firewall providers include zone alarm, Norton and C-gate. A proxy server can also be set up to route the accessibility of the internet through the proxy. Settings within the proxy can be set up to avoid accessibility of certain options. In case security is not concerned with the internet but with the accessibility of peripheral devices such as the CD and floppy drives the access to the same can be altered through the settings for individual user accounts.
