The best way to train a dog to search for and rescue people who are lost and things which have been misplaced is to train the dog to use its nose. This is not only because it comes naturally to dogs, but it is also because they are gifted with a sharp sense of smell.

Of course, it is a good idea to try to train a dog to use its nose to search and rescue, but it is often not practicable. However, if you can successfully train a dog to take part in search and rescue acts, it is a very rewarding task, but of course, it requires a lot of hard work and commitment on the part of the dog trainer. The dog must be trained for a duration of at least fifteen hours a week. The training includes training the dog to play the victim as well as learning how to find one.
