Whether to legalize drugs or not is a mooted question. Legalization of drugs is based on various theories. It may eliminate criminal market and reduce crime and may help to address real issues. It is stated that legalisation may help provide information to the needy. It may also stop discrimination on the basis of races for drug addiction as the dark-skinned people are arrested often than the whites. The drugs can be freely available and thus taxed.

One would be very elated at the site of the revenue figures that could be collected by the sale of such legalized drugs. He would naturally think that this revenue could be used to improve the health facilities, infrastructure, education and the rehabilitation and uplifting of the economically poor in the country. Having considered all this, this person may not realize the increase in the use of legalized drugs due to decrease in their prices. This may not let the use of this money for the above purposes but for the rehabilitation of the addicted persons.
