What Should My Friend Do If The Irs Won't Give Them Money That They Are Owed?

My friend claimed his 2 kids as dependents on income tax & irs asked for extra form & he sent it to them 3 months ago & now they are telling him that he needs to wait another 2 months while they resarch it? Is there anything he can do to speed process up?

    No, with the IRS. Regardless if it takes a year, she/he will get the money that is owed. So, just wait.

      I worked as a Tax Examiner for the IRS for 28 years, and I worked in the area your friend is probably dealing with.  It's hard to say without knowing more of the details, but your friend has to realize that this is a very busy time of year at the IRS.  He'll have to be patient.

        If your friend sent in information 3 months ago, and they told him that it will take another 3 month to research, this is unacceptable.  Your friend can call the taxpayer advocate office @ 1-877-777-4778.  This is an independent agency that works as a liaison between the taxpayer and the IRS.  They report directly to Congress, and their cases take priority over other cases being examined.  If your friend is experiencing a financial hardship, he should mention this during his/her call.
