Is It Abnormal For A BBQ Grill To Have A Huge Fire Ball Under The Hood When You Light It?
We have a BBQ grill. I lit the grill to turn it on a huge fire ball shot uo under the hood sounded like a gun shot I believe this is abnormal I am wondering do we need a new tank

This is not good. You are lucky you weren't seriously injured. Check the burner to make sure that the gas jets are not rusted over. If you can't clear the holes out, you can buy replacement burners at most stores that sell grilles. Check the ignitor and make sure it is clean and has good spark. This is also an item that is easily replaced.
If your grill makes a little "whoosh" sound when it lights, that is fine. A big fireball and a gunshot sound is absolutely bad.

You also want air getting into the pit when you are lighting it, cause if you open the lid and light it that way, then you are also asking for trouble, just make sure the lid is open.
Well i didn't heard the sound by your BBQ Grill but when ever i made a BBQ it always give sound with a huge fire ball may be because the electric or gas comes in all the burners at the same time with great pressure and when they are lit BBQ Grill produces a great sound. So no need to worry but be careful next time.
