How Long Does It Take To Climb Ben Nevis?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Ben Nevis is the highest mountain in the UK and is situated in Western Scotland; its elevation is 1344 m (4409 ft) and is a part of the Grampians range which includes most of the high peaks on the British Isles. Scaling Ben Nevis is often a demanding activity as weather conditions fluctuate dramatically and an inexperienced climber could have a hard time. The fastest time in which the mountain has been scaled is 1hour and 25 minutes set during a race competition to the summit which is held annually.

For a fairly good climber it would take about 2 hours at a trot to scale the mountain while for walkers it would be about 3 hours with a total of 5 to 6 hours to ascend and descend. It would also depend on the path used as well as the weather conditions prevailing. In any case prior training would be advisable before attempting to climb the mountain as one can be better equipped to deal with any emergency in case it arises.
