Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

It is believed that there are more than a million species of organisms that we can see with our naked eye. However we will learn that there are still many organisms existing on the earth which are too small to be seen with the naked eye. We will be astonished to see plenty of such organisms in only a single drop of water. These tiny organisms are so small that they can only be observed under a microscope.

They are usually simple in their structure and way of life. Some have bodies comprising only one cell and some have more than one cell. We classify these tiny organisms on the basis of number of body cells. The single celled organisms are called unicellular organisms, and those with many cells are called multicellular organisms. Some examples of microorganisms are viruses, bacteria, chlamydomonas, and amoeba.

    1) Viruses are so small that they can not be seen with the light microscope. They can be studied only under the electron microscope or through bio-chemist test.
    2) These are unicellular organisms which measure about a micro in size. Most of them have no chlorophyll in their cells, some can manufacture their own food, are called heterotrophic bacteria.
    3) It is a unicellular green plant which is visible under microscope.
    4) Amoeba is a unicellular animals found in stagnant pools and ponds.
