Xbox Live Gold is worth paying for in every aspect over Silver. With Silver, you are restricted from any online play, and even in parties where you play local, if Xbox Live is selected, it will say you cannot play on Xbox Live. This will restrict you from playing four player campaign in Halo 3, whereas local play only enables splitscreen, or two player.
