Why Is Microsoft Popular?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

I'm sure there are other good reasons out there but the only one I can think of is that a large majority of businesses have put nothing but Microsoft products in their computers. When an employee goes home he wants to have a computer that is compatible to the one at work. So, he gets a PC with Windows in it, puts in the latest version of Office that he can afford, and surfs using Internet Explorer.
You and I know there are other products out there, just as good as Microsoft and even free. When businesses can operate with other businesses without using Microsoft, or Microsoft like, products then you will see home use of Microsoft products decline.
Of course this is my opinion. I also believe that Microsoft products are resource hogs, and bloated, but the product is good, has an extremely knowledgeable staff, and works very well. This may be another reason why it will be a long time before Microsoft loses its popularity.
