Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Verdon Gorge is located in south-eastern France, in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. In French it is called Grand Canyon du Verdon or Gorges du Verdon. It is close to the French Rivera.

It is the second largest gorge in the world, measuring around 20 kilometers in length and is over 300 meters deep. Verdon Gorge has been formed by the Verdon River. The river gets its name from its striking turquoise-green color, which is considered one of the valley's most distinctive features. Its most remarkable section is found between the towns of Moustiers-Ste-Marie and Castellane.

The canyon sees a large number of visitors who can drive there and then rent kayaks or go for a hike. There are a lot of rock climbers who make it a point to visit this gorge.
